UPDATE: You can vote for me now. Have a look at this video to find out how.

I like to try new things. So when I got an email about

“A Creative Way To Fund Your SEO Budget”

from the people behind The Hoth it got my mind racing.

I’ve used The Hoth as one of my link building sources. I like to test a variety of different methods to see which can bring me the best results. As one of my mates saw some Hoth merchandise and thought the monster reminded him of me, I jumped at the chance.

But why?

Well my goal was two fold. First it would be a zero investment as the cost of the tattoo would be refunded. Secondly, just for entering you would get $3000 worth of credits to use against The Hoth’s services. I didn’t realise at the time but there was also a cash prize on offer too.

So I started searching on Facebook to find a tattoo shop. The reason why I used Facebook was due to wanting the reviews. Volume and score were my factors.

I found a few and emailed them the same day as I found out. The first people to get back to me were GB tattoos and as they agreed for the camera etc I arranged to pop in to see them.

The time line went like this

4th May – Received email from The Hoth. Emailed tattoo shops

5th May – Went to See GB Tattoos

8th May – Tattoo done

I was so nervous in over the weekend but I felt that I wanted to try something to see what would happen. Part of me felt I could leverage the story for some media coverage and maybe some affiliate commission by sending people to the Hoth. Whilst I haven’t had any sales yet I did get a feature in a local newspaper.

Here is my face on the cover of a local paper

This afternoon I was in contact with another reporter so who knows what else might happen.

Anyway, it will be a story to tell the grand kids!
